How it works

  1. One download, the first timeYour browser saves the transcription engine (600 to 700 MB). After that, it starts right away.
  2. Your recordings stay with youThey're turned into text on your computer and never sent anywhere. Not to us, not to anyone.
  3. Check it yourselfOnce the engine is saved, turn off Wi-Fi. It still works.
  4. Best in Chrome or EdgeOn a laptop or desktop from the last few years.

Good to know

How long does it take?
About 5 minutes for a 30-minute recording on a recent computer. Older ones take longer, and we'll tell you before you start.
Which languages?
It detects the language on its own. Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, German and Italian work best.
Will the text be perfect?
Close, with clear audio. Names and rare words can come out wrong, so give the important parts a quick read.
Is anything kept?
No. Your text lives in this tab until you download it. Close the tab and it's gone.
Why is it free?
Your computer does the work, so it costs us almost nothing to run. No ads, no account, no cookies.

Use the faster graphics card

Many laptops have two graphics cards: one saves battery, the other is faster. With the faster one, transcriptions are quicker and more accurate. Chrome usually gets the one that saves battery. If yours has two, you can change that once, and it stays.

  1. Open graphics settingsClick the Windows logo at the bottom of the screen, type “graphics settings” and press Enter.
  2. Find Google ChromeIn the list of apps, click Google Chrome.
  3. Pick High performanceWhere it says GPU preference, choose High performance. It saves on its own. If both options name the same card, your computer has just one. Nothing to change.
  4. Restart ChromeClose every Chrome window, then open sealpitch.com again. You'll need to add your recordings again, and the setup runs one more time.

Turn on graphics acceleration

With it on, Chrome can use your graphics card, and transcriptions are quicker and more accurate. It's one switch in the settings, and it stays on.

  1. Open the settingsClick the menu at the top right of Chrome, then Settings, then System.
  2. Turn it onSwitch on “Use graphics acceleration when available”.
  3. Restart ChromeClick Relaunch, next to the switch. Your tabs come back. You'll need to add your recordings again, and the setup runs one more time.

If you turned it off on purpose, leave it off. sealpitch works either way, just slower.
And if it's already on, there's nothing to change.
